2011 President’s Letter
I would first like to take a moment to thank our past-President, Ruleen Koons and our
2011 NCHIMA Executive Board for all of their hard work over the past year. It has been a
year of sharing both triumphs and heartaches for some of our members who continue to
give selfishly of their time and efforts. Every one of our officers current and present is to
be commended for volunteering their skills and expertise. For their dedication, the overall
membership of NCHIMA has continued to be blessed.
For those of you who may be new members, NCHIMA operates solely on a volunteer
basis. It has been refreshing to see devoted board members working to better the industry
as a whole. A special thank you goes to Supryia Nair who continues to assist us by
offering knowledge and time managing our website.
This past year, NCHIMA once again provided three stellar programs that were made
possible by the relentless work of program committee chairs, Jeanette Gulder and
Kimberly Bemis. The line-up for speakers and topics continue to meet the needs of the
members and will once again meet the highest of standards in 2012.
I want to thank our members for supporting NCHIMA by attending the meetings and who
consistently support NCHIMA. Job descriptions and Bylaws are continuing to improve and
should be completed with additional revisions by the end of this year. I would also like to
encourage members to use their skills and knowledge for NCHIMA by running for a board
position.
Students enrolled in an AHIMA accredited program are still eligible for free NCHIMA
membership. Active membership dues remain at the low annual fee of $20.00 which
provides members with a discount to all 2012 meetings. Be sure to click on the 2012
Membership form and pay your dues today to make sure your eligible and to remain on
our most current membership list.
I look forward to seeing and meeting you at an upcoming meeting. The 2012 NCHIMA
board looks forward to seeing and meeting you at an upcoming meeting, and we invite you
to join us in taking part of yet another rewarding and successful year!

Our members can now sign up electronically for our meetings by using Telusys for registration and payment for conferences.
Notes from the speakers for our up-coming meetings are posted on our website, www.nchimaonline.org, a week before the date, so you can pre-print any pages that you want to follow along with at the meeting. This will help cut costs for printing and waste of paper.
